Our approach joins tested methods in adult learning, cultural responsiveness, and a deep love and respect for humanity. Founded in 2018, its name honors two dynamic families of innovators, institution-builders, educators, business owners and justice advocates who are fierce in their commitments to integrity, knowledge, education, personal growth and family. The Sankofa bird featured in our logo pays homage to a concept and adinkra symbol from the Akan people in Ghana, West Africa that means, “Go back and fetch it.” In other words, in order to know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve been. Founder & CEO
Meet Elizabeth Whittaker-Walker
Elizabeth is a trusted strategist, facilitator, speaker and coach who believes in people and our power to build a just and equitable world. With over 20 years of experience, she has trained thousands of non-profit professionals, foundation executives, public officials, educators, policy leaders and more. She is known internationally for her warm and ethical approach to leadership, strategic planning, institutional design and facilitation. With deep expertise in racial equity, public policy, education and adult learning, she centers her practice on reflective listening, principled accountability, empathy and impact. She has led the design of hundreds of programs in multimodal digital and in-person platforms.
Elizabeth is a United States-Japan Leadership Program Fellow, a Pahara Institute NextGen Fellow, and the recipient of the 2024 Ida B. Wells Social Justice Award, receiving a senatorial commendation. She is a graduate of Northwestern University, a devoted mom, wife, and bookworm who loves to write, travel, and cook soulful vegan food. She holds practitioner certifications from Goldman Sachs and Board Source, has studied over 10 languages, and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has been featured in a wide variety of publications, including Thrive Global, Fast Company, Ladders, Goalcast, Intuit QuickBooks, Her Money, BoardSource, and more.
